The NPA proprietary HELO family of products was originally designed for law enforcement and specifically to pass and exceed all FBI performance protocols. Unlike bonded jacketed bullets the HELO is formed from a solid piece of high grade virgin copper and then a proprietary cavity is formed , the copper bullet is further processed with a proprietary manufacturing method to allow the projectile to achieve maximum penetration and expansion while retaining 100% of its grain weight through ballistic gel. Bonded lead jacketed bullets are much more ductile than copper and deform even when dropped by accident which can cause the bullet to fail to open but the HELO Defense is made of solid copper that will not deform when dropped or push back when chambered multiple times.

The 9mm HELO Defense +P was designed using computer modeling software that tested thousands of variations and modeling its trajectory before the first prototype was built. The end result is a bullet that will be extremely accurate from a subcompact pistol to a full-size gun which will average below 2” groups at a target 25 yards away.  Unlike other manufacturers who will give their accuracy test shot groups from a test barrel in a fixture NPA uses real pistols to test the accuracy our products.


The 9mm HELO Defense +P has been test fired through hundreds of major manufacturers pistols ranging from full sized suppressed guns to sub-compact pocket pistols.  Over 50,000 rounds were shot to ensure that the profile of the hollow point will reliably feed in all 9mm pistols and 9mm carbines including select fire sub-machine guns. Surefire premium primers that are sealed and waterproofed are used in the cartridge that will eliminate misfires due to humidity affecting the primer and powder.


The 9mm HELO Defense +P will reliably expand within ½” of penetration with ballistic gel and will penetrate to an average of 15 and 1/2” which is considered the optimal penetration to strike a vital based on the FBI test protocol.  The bullets proprietary interior skives will expand the bullet to almost twice its original diameter causing massive trauma to incapacitate a threat that would normally need a larger caliber to create the same wound channel.  The 9mm HELO Defense will not plug up when shot through heavy clothing and will expand consistently from shot to shot.
